Many times a physician or another health care provider will recommend a specific diet to a patient when they have specific conditions that adversely affect their health. These diets recommended by a health care provider are called sometimes referred to as prescription diets. In some cases prescription diets are only for the management of specific health conditions such as high blood pressure while in other cases they are also for the promotion of weight loss in addition to managing these health conditions.
