The Fit for Life diet states that when foods are combined inappropriately, they cannot be absorbed from the intestinal tract which causes toxicity in the body and may result in weight gain. The Fit for Life diet is based on the theory that eating foods in specific combinations at certain times of the day will result in weight loss and increased energy. A few guidelines a person on the Fit for Life diet follows are eating fruit from the time a person gets up until noon, a carbohydrate based meal or a protein based meal may be eaten for lunch or dinner but should not be mixed, and dairy foods and refined sugar are banned.
Advantages of the Fit for Life Diet for weight loss
Some people may prefer the Fit for Life diet over other weight loss diets because there is no limit on how much of the specific foods a person can eat and neither calories nor fat grams need to be counted.
Disadvantages of the Fit for Life Diet for weight loss
Because people on the Fit for Life diet are not allowed to consume dairy products, a calcium deficiency could result. The Fit for Life diet may be difficult for some people to follow as the rules of when to eat certain foods and what they may be combined with are very strict. The severe limitations placed on dairy products and some lean meats by the Fit for Life diet may be too strict to allow for good nutrition.
